QR Codes on headstones...why not?

Burlington, NC-- Quick read or "QR" codes are everywhere and on everything. The newest place to put them on headstones and why not?

QR codes allow you to get information about a product and it will work the same way with headstones. You'll be able to get biography and heritage information on the person buried in that plot at that cemetery.

Wednesday, a QR code is being affixed on the headstone of Nicholas Weis who died June 25, 2010 from brain tumors. Smartphone users will be able to get Weis' life story by scanning the code.

Around the world QR codes are becoming common place in cemeteries for historians, family, friends to learn more about people who are no longer with us.

Buffy Tapp with Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington said there will be other QR codes affixed to headstones, today is just the first one.
